I Can See You’re Out of Aces

Listening to ‘The Gambler’, the other day, and wondering why it was so iconic. When you think about it, Kenny Rogers doesn’t get very insightful advice for his last sip of whiskey.

You got to know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em
Know when to walk away, know when to run
You never count your money, when you’re sittin’ at the table
There’ll be time enough for countin’, when the dealin’s done.

Well, of course you have to know! But how do you know? What are your tricks for reading people’s faces, specifically? This is all most unhelpful! (And the whiskey was gone by then.)

(Does anyone know any good, straightforward, manuals for life?)
